Exams are coming. Short update.

Does this mean I'll be playing less of my 3ds? Probably.

But it's a bit hard to put down at the moment, since I beaten Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and is playing it again, and that I've saved the game just when the battle with The End began and I don't wanna wait a week to get a cheap kill on him.

Maybe I'll kill him then I'll put my 3DS down.

Oh, and MGS3 is awesome. Same goes with MGS1, which I've beaten a few weeks back but didnt post it here.

Gaming/ Fire Emblem Update!

In gaming news, the Xbox One was announced yesterday, generating tons of hate from the internet.

Personally, I was never an Xbox fan to begin with, so I'm happy that Nintendo has a chance to perform well and make sure they don't screw up the WiiU.

In Fire Emblem news,

I was a bit shocked to hear that Fire Emblem: Awakening was nearly going to be the last game of the series.

Due to the decreasing of sales in DS FE games (Shadow Dragon, and New Mystery of the Emblem, which was Japan only), it is said that if Awakening did not sell more than 250,000 copies, it will be the last FE game.

Thank god it wasn't.

It exceeded all sales expectations, and it is soon going to be the first FE game to hit the 1 Million mark. For a niche genre, that's pretty good.

Now, for my Streetpass update.

I've maxed out Cynthia's stats, and her final class is the Bride class. Initially, I was just gonna leave her as a bride, then I realised that her skillsets are not really good, with a lot of them quite useless since I'm using her as a support unit and not a Rallybot (I'll get to that later).
Now that she's back as a Bride, she has Limit Breaker, Aether, Pavise, Renewal, and Luna.
Limit Breaker, again for obvious reasons. Aether was her sole healing skill inherited from Chrom. But I realised due to the low trigger rate (56/2 = 28%), it's not very reliable. So I put in Renewal just in case. Also, I placed Pavise in there as Cynthia has lower Def than Res as a Bride. As for why I put Luna, it's to compensate for her lack of Str (at only 50). Having Luna will help do more damage.

Another person I maxed out in stats is Langley. She is the Female Avatar from my Hard/Classic playthrough that I've recruited into my Hard/Casual run (via Avatar Logbook) to use her as a Rallybot.
A Rallybot is a character whose sole purpose is to use the Rally command in battle to increase the stats of all nearby characters. All Rally Skills stack with each other, meaning if your character has Rally Luck and Mag and uses Rally, all adjacent units get bonus of both Luck and Mag. However, same type of rallies do not stack on characters, meaning a person who received Rally Str twice in one turn will only receive a stat boost similar to receiving just one Rally Str.
The best Rallybots are usually any female character with access to a lot of classes. The best ones are characters from Spotpass or DLC characters since they get all the classes except for gender specific ones. I decided to use Langley instead since she could access a lot of the classes.
Rallybots serve to rally, and so I did not put Limit Breaker on her. Her rallies are Spectrum, Heart, Skill, Speed, and Res.
Rally Spectrum is a must for Rallybots since it raises all stats. Same for Rally Heart, which raises all stats (while less than Spectrum, it raises Movement too), and it's only available via the Bride class. I chose Rally Skill because skill activation is quite crucial in Streetpass. Same goes for outspeeding (or double attacking) your opponent, which is why Rally Speed is there. Also, since magic-based attacks are the most dangerous forms of attack in FE:A, I put Rally Res for that added defense against magic users.

So yeah, that's two characters done in my Streetpass, making it 6 characters.

4 more to go.

Another Streetpass team update!!

Yeah, since my semester is coming to an end, I'm getting more free time to train up my Streetpass team in Fire Emblem. And the next person on my team to get maxed out stats is Inigo (Montoya).

The son of Lon'Qu and Olivia, his final class is Assassin (cuz of the Speed and Skill he got from his parents). His skill set are Limit Breaker, Sol, Astra, Lethality, and Counter.

His skills are focused on triggering something every time, be it a 5-hit combo, a heal attack, or a one hit kill. And Counter is just there for trolling. He has a maximum skill of 63, having 63%, 32%, and 16% chance of Sol, Astra, and Lethality respectively.

His weakness I guess would be his low Def and Res.

Oh ya, Inigo has a sword named Domingo (after Inigo Montoya's father), and a bow named Montoya (for extrememly obvious reasons).

If you didn't get it by now, I'm making Princess Bride reference with him. Too bad he can't use a Rapier.

Short Fire Emblem Streetpass team update

My third maxed stats character is done, Owain the Dread Fighter!

He has higher Strength than Magic (since Vaike is his father), and higher Defense than Resistance (due to the Dread Fighter class I think).

His skillsets include Limit Breaker (for obvious reasons), Counter, Sol, Aggressor, and Vantage. Sol is the best attacking activation skill (and for healing too), so it's a must for him. I used Counter just so he could annoy people with the damage they'll receive.

Aggressor and Vantage is placed there as a combo. In the event that Owain has less than half of his health left, Vantage will activate. And since Vantage activates, and Owain initiates the attack, Aggressor will give him an added 10 damage for the attack. And because I'll be using forged Brave weapons, Owain can not only attack twice, but also activate Sol to heal himself.

I guess the only weakness he has is that he's not only balanced, his Speed isn't that high (at only 53 Spd), which means he might get doubled by some characters.

Games I plan to get for the 3DS

So, there's gonna be some new games coming out soon, and some which are already out that I didn't get because it's not my top priority.

So, here's the list of games that I might consider buying, from the lowest priority to the highest.

Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins

I dunno why, this game made me interested a bit when it was revealed, and I've heard some really good stuff about the WiiU Lego City. It has a GTA style free of free roaming, except its Lego and you're playing the good guys.
The game ranks low on my priority because reviews of it was unfavourable. Many complaint about the horrendously long loading time, which was present in the WiiU version, but even worse here, since it is handheld, and loading times on handheld sucks.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

I liked the Layton series because puzzles like those in the game really interest me, even though some of these puzzles downright trolls you. Also, as the first entry of the Layton series in the 3DS I really do look forward to seeing what it has in stored.
But the problem with me and Layton games is that I never play it to the maximum potential. I was never bothered about playing the slew of mini games they have and I'm only interested in the puzzles from the main story. So, I'm not sure if I would buy it at full retail price. I might consider if I could get it second hand.

Kid Icarus Uprising

I might only buy this game if I find it second hand, honestly. I know, the reviews for this game is great and that its one of the best early entries of the 3DS. But I think I need a little bit more convincing if I plan to get the game since I have not found any interest for the game or the series yet.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

I've never played a Monster Hunter game before. My friend is currently trying to persuade me to buy it (which is saying something, considering how much he dislikes Capcom for having bad business practices). While it looks interesting, and might get me hooked on it for quite a while, the problem is that over here in Malaysia, there isn't a huge 3DS community (there is a dedicated one, but not that huge). And the fact that this game is Local Co-op only means that I have to go out and meet the local Monster Hunter guild in order to enjoy the full multiplayer experience that is MH3U.
So, I might pass on this one, but not MH4, since it is rumored to have online Co-Op (YES!)

Professor Layton x Ace Attorney

Now we enter the realm of 'consider buying it at retail price'. A crossover between these two series seems pretty awesome. And I can't wait to see how Wright and Layton will interact with each other, as well as the story of the game.
The gameplay will be a combination of the two series, which I don't mind, since I like the puzzles of the main story in the Layton series (as mentioned earlier), and the courtroom drama of the Ace Attorney games. I can't wait to play it myself.

Project X Zone

Its a turn-based strategy game, with Namco, Sega, and most importantly, Capcom characters. Really, what more can you ask for. Getting to use Ryu, Ken, Zero, X, Jin, Dante, Frank West, Akira and many other Capcom, as well as fighting game characters makes me interested in this game.
The only thing that might stop me from buying it at retail price is the gameplay. I worry that it might be a bit too repetitive, and that all the fancy animated attack sequences might loose its charm after doing the same thing for the 50th time.

Ace Attorney 5

Holy crap, this game is gonna be awesome! Plus, new trailer reveals that some older characters like Miles Edgeworth and Trucy will be in the game, how awesome!
Also, the investigation mode gameplay seems really sweet. It reminds me of the 'escape' sequence in Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors, and I don't mind that, since it's a HUGE step up from investigation mode from previous games.
Unfortunately, this game may be Digital Copy Only for America/Europe, meaning that I might have to spend a bit more to buy the game. Hopefully, Capcom will sell it in physical copy as well, but give players an incentive to buy it digitally (like being cheaper, or having all pre-order bonuses, etc.), I wouldn't mind them doing that, since it also promotes the e-Shop, something that Nintendo wants.

Pokemon X & Y

The next generation of Pokemon game, a must buy for my 3DS. I like how they're gonna have an international release, which is really awesome since everyone from US and Japan will be able to experience the awesomeness of Gen VI together.
I'm gonna pick Y, I think Yveltal looks pretty badass. And my friend is gonna get X. As for which starter to choose, it's still a bit hard for me to decide at the moment. I usually decide my starter based on how their final evolution looks. So, until I see their final evolutions and their typing, I dunno whether I'll go with Chespin, Fenekin, or Froakie.

So there you go, some 3DS game that I might/will buy when it comes out.

Another Fire Emblem Update. And some 3DS stories.

Yeah, I've been playing FE: Awakening a whole lot, even though I've beaten the game 3 times, and that I still have Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations still not completed.

Anyways, I've not been able to play my 3DS much during the weekend. Partly because of assignments, but mostly due to the fact that I've misplaced my 3DS charger.

Last Friday night, I was going to charge my 3DS when its battery turns red. Then I realised, the charger that was in my schoolbag isn't in my schoolbag (since it was last seen in my bag). Checking my whole room, still no charger. Then I remembered, I might have dropped the charger in the laboratory when I was taking my lab coat out from my bag for the lab session.

So, for the next few days, I never touched my 3DS (except on Sunday, cuz it was Morgan's birthday in Fire Emblem). Then on Tuesday, I went to my school's lost and found, and thank goodness, my charger was there!

Even with my charger back, I didn't play much since I have homework. But anyway, on to my next story.

So, I've always turned the Streetpass feature in my 3DS on when I go out, in case I tagged someone's 3DS. Sadly, I never tagged anyone's 3DS in my university, until today!

I was, really, really happy. Even my 3DS was, since it told me it's been ages since I tagged someone. While I  would like to know who did I tag in real life, I couldn't. I've only found out that I tagged someone when I was in the car. So, 'Avery', whoever you are. I'm looking for you (in not so stalker-ish way).

What I like about the person I tagged was he played Fire Emblem too! So, his Streetpass team was sent to me, and I was pretty excited to see how good he is.

He sucked, but I don't blame him (I'll get to that later).

His Streetpass team has around 1500 Renown. This means that this team is from his first save file. His team was quite bad. He has 5 characters which aren't equipped with any weapons at all, I dunno why. His best units were his Lv20 Chrom as a Lord, Lv5 Grandmaster (Himself), Lv18 Sully and Virion (Cavalier and Archer respectively), and a Lv14 Frederick as a Great Knight.

See the problem in his team? Yeah, Freddy's level is way too high. From there, I deduced that this guy either plays Normal mode and abuse Frederick as a beginner's mistake, or he's playing Hard or higher and abusing Freddy's usefulness (but that's highly unlikely, since his team would be more balanced).

So, after defeating Avery's team with Owain alone (yeah, any member of my Streetpass team could solo him). I checked his Player Card. Sure enough, he was playing Normal/Casual. So, he's a beginner/newbie to the game.

At least I know that there's another person in my uni playing FE. Now I'll just have to track him down.

And no, I'm not a stalker. I'm just curious who this person is.
